BREEDING OF BLUE-CROWN HANGING-PARROT
(LORICULUS GALGULUS)

I still raised small eaters of exotic seeds when on a book I saw the photo of a male of loricolo from the blue crown.
It was a hit of lightning, I began to ask to all the dealers from me known if it were possible to get a couple but the results of it they were disappointing. I was satisfied of a beautiful male with to the promise to be warned if they presented some female.
Wait was extended for around a year when I finally got not only craves him female but also another couple.
Lodged in my breeding they immediately were shown very confiding and well fed they gave beginning to a complicated molt, very complicated that at the end it gave me 3 males and a female.
I didn't lose heart and I contacted a friend Belgian breeder that with my top amazement in a few times found a breeder to me that it not only had the female but that that year had raised some tens of it.
In September I approached therefore to acquire the female that I had in the reserved meantime and indeed I also had joy to observe an aviary of 4 xes 4 xes 4 flood of young galgulus.

I returned home with a female of a year and another female older than she had already reproduced and that it had particularity to have well evident the red gag and the blue crown. The only difference of males was the yellow stain on the shoulders that it was color ochre and the rump color red brick.
To this I found with three beautiful couples and so much hope.
The 24 of December it already attended me a beautiful news: the first couple lodged in a cage type canaries of 120 xes 40 xes 40 deposed the first egg.
In the whole female it deposed 6 eggs resulted not fertile and it repeated the thing to distance of 45 days for three times.
Desolate I removed the nest to not tire the female but I made an error because perhaps worn-out from my intervention the couple died in a few days.

In the meantime the young female acquired in Belgium had left me for which found again with two males and a strange female.
Case wanted that I observed the male remained separated to call the strange female that answered to him ignoring completely the mschio from me assegnatogli.
Says fact. I changed the male and I lodged the couple in a cage greatest 120 x 70 x 50 well full of branches and provided of the nest of the first unlucky couple.
Attended not a lot. Under the assiduous court of the male the female capitulated and a morning deposed a egg. The problem was however that the according to it deposed it after 10 days.
What I had read on of an article had to be true: at times the female in advanced age show the red gag.

However the female didn't give any problem and she was put to brood with good wish.
Only the first egg resulted fertile and after 18 days from the deposition it was born a beautiful unfledged chick that grew well for 24 days up to its inexplicable death.
After this first experience the female suited in molt and me strong of first experience I gave abundant doses of soluble mineral salts to them and in dust besides the usual diet more varied possible.
The molt passed without problems and around three months after the first deposition the female it began to frequent the nest again.
This time also deposed an egg, then another to distance of three days and finally a third to distance of 10 days.
This time however the eggs resulted all and three fertile and after 19 days it was born the first chick. The second born after 20 days and the third after 28 days from the deposition of the first egg.
All and three were fed dearly and after 48 days the first two young people did their appearance the cage, immediately fed with love from the male that you/he/she had ever entered in the nest.
Third remained in the nest but I didn't worry accustomed to the forpus and to other parrots that go out in groups from the nest and they still come fed in the nest.
I was wrong. The female no it reentered more in the nest and three days after the unlucky late comer he had died.
I didn't repeat the error in the third brood.

Also this time the female deposed an egg and the second to distance of 12 days.
The first chick left the nest to 43 days but this time I immediately checked the conditions of the according to whether had to still end to fill of feathers.
The gullet was empty and the female didn't reenter more in the nest.

This time however I helped the nature feeding three times a day the small one in the nest with one it eats up very liquid for around 10 days until still not action to the flight the small one went out from the nest.
The most beautiful thing of this new experience is that not only the father threw to feed the found again sheet but the greatest brother, that had already learned to self feed in the meantime also participated in the feeding of the unlucky chick helping recovering and to learn to fly.
After this experience the couple has still been reproduced with success and different times I have owed to help a small late comer.
